Madagascar is the 101st Party to accede to the Convention as of 1 January 2007. The island is located in Southern Africa, east of Mozambique. Its climate varies from being tropical along the coast, temperate inland and arid in the south. Several endangered marine species are unique to this island in the Indian Ocean. Madagascar is a signatory to the Agreement on the Conservation of African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbirds.
