On 15 September, at the occasion of the meeting of the Heads of Agency Task Force for the 2010 Biodiversity Target, at IUCN headquarters in Gland, Switzerland, Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Jon Hutton, Director of UNEP-WCMC, and Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP, signed a joined work programme building on an Agreement between CBD and UNEP-WCMC that was signed at the 8th Conference of the Parties to the CBD in Brazil in March 2006.

On 15 September, at the occasion of the meeting of the Heads of Agency Task Force for the 2010 Biodiversity Target, at IUCN headquarters in Gland, Switzerland, Ahmed Djoghlaf, Executive Secretary of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), Jon Hutton, Director of UNEP-WCMC, and Achim Steiner, Executive Director of UNEP, signed a joined work programme building on an Agreement between CBD and UNEP-WCMC that was signed at the 8th Conference of the Parties to the CBD in Brazil in March 2006. The work programme identifies areas in which UNEP-WCMC can assist the CBD in building capacity for implementation of the Convention. The areas include 2010 biodiversity indicators, protected areas, national reporting, assessments of status and trends of biodiversity, technical support and capacity building, the Convention’s Clearing-House Mechanism, and the CBD Global Strategy for Plant Conservation.
