To promote biodiversity conservation, CAS has established a series of infrastructures, including botanical gardens and germplasm banks. CAS has 13 botanical gardens with a total area of 68, 319.7 hectares accounting for 67% of the total area of China's botanical gardens. Within the areas, the total natural vegetation area is 59,488.2 hectares, accounting for 78.1% of natural vegetation area of all botanical garden in China.
