Species 2000 is an autonomous federation of taxonomic database custodian, whose goal is to create a uniform and validated index to the world’s known species. Species 2000 China Node is a regional hub of the Species 2000 program launched in October 2006. The goal of Species 2000 China Node project is to provide a validated checklist of all species distributed in China. Since 2008, the project has compiled and published an electronic version of the annual checklist of the Catalogue of Life China.

There are 106,509 species & infraspecific taxa in 2019 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, including 94,260 species and 12,249 infraspecific taxa. In comparison with the 2018 version, the major changes are:

【Animalia】There are 29 new families including 5247 species and infraspecies with 4310 synonyms to be added in the order of Diptera. 47 species and infraspecies are added in the birds. The classification of fish is reviesed, and class Pisces is splitted into Actinopterygii and Chondrichthyes. There are 1675 new species and infraspecies with 4063 synonyms to be added in Actinopterygii, and 20 new species and infraspecies with 240 synonyms to be added in Chondrichthyes. The clas Agnatha is splitted into Myxini and Petromyzontia, and there are 8 species and infraspecies with 5 synonyms to be added in the two new classes.

【Chromista】The phyla Cercozoa is move into this kingdom from Protozoa and there are 2 new species and infraspecies to be added in it. There are 106 species and infraspecies to be added in Oomycota.

【Fungi】 There are 1 new phyla, Blastocladiomycota in 2019 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, 17 species & infraspecies to be added in Blastocladiomycota There are 451 species & infraspecies to be added in Ascomycota, 457 species & infraspecies, 49 synonyms to be added in Basidiomycota, 36 species & infraspecies to be added in Chytridiomycota, 11 species and infraspecies to be added in Glomeromycota, 8 species and ifraspecies with 5 synonyms to be added in Zygomycota.

【Protozoa】There are 41 species & infraspecies and to be added in Amoebozoa.
