Organized by the Biodiversity Committee of Chinese Academy of Sciences (BC-CAS), Catalogue of Life China 2017 Annual Checklist edition has been compiled by Species 2000 China Node. It is sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Ministry of Environment Protection, published by Science Press.

Consistent with the Species 2000 data standard, each species page includes scientific name, synonyms, common name, literature, classification system, distribution and Chinese name with Pinyin. The reviewers for each record are also listed.

There are 92 301 species & infraspecific taxa in 2017 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, including 80 390 species and 11 911 infraspecific taxa. The groups of species in 2017 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China (number of species, number of infraspecies):

[Animalia]In the Arthropoda, the checklist of Araneae, Arachnida is revised based on the contents of Araneae Part, Animals Volume of Species Catalogue of China (published by Science Press in Beijing, 2016), 570 species & infraspecies are added. In the Insecta, 2154 species & infraspecies, 3135 synonyms are added in Lepidoptera.

[Fungi]There are 2 new phyla, Glomeromycotaand Zygomycota in 2017 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, 184 species & infraspecies,21 synonyms to be added in Glomeromycota,348 species & infraspecies, 196 synonyms to be added in Zygomycota. There are 39 species& infraspecies to be added in Ascomycota, 202species & infraspecies, 146 synonyms to be added in Basidiomycota, 12 species & infraspecies to be added in Chytridiomycota.

[Plantae]In 2017 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, the checklist of higher plant is revised based on the contents of Plants Volume of Species Catalogue of China (13 parts, published by Science Press in Beijing, 2013-2017) (http://www.chinaplantspecies.org/), includes 465 families, 4003 genus, 36 246 species and 7070 infraspecies (varieties), covering all known China native higher plants and naturalized plants, as well as economically important exotics, such as crops or plantation plants. In which, Lichen is divided into 3 phyla, Anthocerotophyta, Bryophyta and Marchntiophyta, includes 151 families, 595 genus, 3045 species, 235 infraspecies; The Pteridophyta includes 40 families, 178 genus,2217 species, 132 infraspecies; Gymnospermae includes 10 families, 45 genus, 263 species, 85 infraspecies; Angiospermae includes 264 families,3185 genus, 30 721 species, 6618 infraspecies.

[Protozoa]There are 113 species & infraspecies and 7 synonyms to be added in Amoebozoa, 1 species to be added in Cercozoa.

The national annual species checklist has been compiled and released since 2008 by the participants of Species 2000 China Node, together with more than 100 domestic and overseas taxonomists. It follows the data standard of the Standard Dataset of the Species 2000, and provides the Catalogue of Life China to all users in the world.
