The main changes in the 2016 Annual Checklist are:
[Animalia] There are 2 new orders – Mesostigmata and Prostigmata- under Arachnida of Arthropoda in 2016 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, 55 and 1251 species & infraspecies to be added in the 2 orders, respectively. There are 2 new orders – Hemiptera and Homoptera in the Insecta. In Hemiptera, there are 566 species & infraspecies, 553 synonyms to be added; in Homoptera, 278 species & infraspecies, 279 synonyms to be added; 668 species & infraspecies, 325 synonyms to be added in Coleoptera; 113 species & infraspecies, 45 synonyms to be added in Lepidoptera. In Chordata, there are 6 species & infraspecies to be added in Amphibian, 48 species & infraspecies to be added in Reptile.
[Chromista] There are 81 species & infraspecies and 56 synonyms to be added in Oomycota.
[Fungi] There is a new phylum Chytridiomycota in 2016 Annual Checklist of Catalogue of Life China, 12 species & infraspecies to be added in the phylum.
[Plantae] In the Angiospermae, there are 201 species & infraspecies to be added. In the Gymnosperm, there are 1 species & infraspecies to be added. In the Fern, there are 8 species & infraspecies to be added.
The national annual species checklist has been compiled and released since 2008 by the participants of Species 2000 China Node, together with more than 100 domestic and overseas taxonomists. It follows the data standard of the Standard Dataset of the Species 2000, and provides the Catalogue of Life China to all users in the world.
