Catalogue of Life China (Print Version)-Inland Fish

The Reviewing Meeting of Catalogue of Life China (Print Version)-Inland Fish volume was Held

On March 16, the Reviewing Meeting of Catalogue of Life China (Printed Version)-Inland Fish was held in the Institute of Zoology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). Prof. Junxing Yang from Kunming Institute of Zoology (experts group leader), Prof. Hanlin Wu from Shanghai Ocean University, Prof. Yunfei Wu from Ocean University of China, Prof. E Zhang from the Institute of Hydrobiology, Prof. Zuofa Jiang from the Heilongjiang Institute of Fishery, Chinese Academy of Fishery and Prof. Qingxian Zeng from Taiwan Tsing Hua University were invited as review experts. Also, Prof. Liqiang Ji, the Project leader, from the Institute of Zoology, Prof. Haining Qin from the Institute of Botany, Mrs. Yinan Liu, the office direct of Biodiversity Committee, CAS, and 3 authors of the volume - Prof. Chunguang Zhang and Associate Prof. Yahui Zhao from the Institute of Zoology, Associate Prof. Yingchun Xing from the Chinese Academy of Fishery attended the meeting.

Prof. Liqiang Ji presided over the meeting. During the meeting, Prof. Haining Qin introduced the whole project progress as a representative of Catalogue of Life China project. Prof. Chunguang Zhang shared the compiling progress of the Inland Fish volume and Associate Prof. Yingchun Xing gave a detailed report about the content.

After the progress introduction, experts discussed in details about the book and gave several suggestions on the content structure, the format and references of species list, detailed information type of each list, etc..

The experts gave a high appreciation and fully endorsed of the work. Under the background of global climate change and the frequent interruption that humans bringing to the environment, it had a significant scientific value to make a clear understanding of fish biodiversity in inland water and carry out fish and water ecological environment conservation. The compiling group thanked to evaluation and would conscientiously completed the manuscript.

The manuscript is expected to be completed before the end of March, and submit to the Science Press.

Background
Organized by the Biodiversity Committee, CAS, Catalogue of Life China Annual Checklist DVD edition has been compiled since 2008. After years, many users recommend to public the printed edition. It would facilitate the users and expand its influence. On March 31, 2011, during the establishment meeting of 5th Biodiversity Committee, CAS, members of the committee discussed and decided to initial the Catalogue of Life China (Printed Version) project. The project was supported by the Bureau of Life Sciences and Biotechnology and Biodiversity Committee, CAS. Started in 2013, three volumes (animals, plants and fungi) including 27 books will be published.
