IUCN Asian Nature Conservation Forum was successfully held

On November 6-8, 2019, the 7th Asian Regional Conservation Forum of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) was held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The Asian Regional Conservation Forum, held once every four years, is the largest event organized by IUCN in Asia. The forum was hosted by the World Conservation Union and the Government of Pakistan, and co-organized by the Ministry of Climate Change of Pakistan, the IUCN Asian Regional Committee and the IUCN Asian Regional Office. The theme is "Greening Asia for Nature and People". Discussing and improving IUCN's work plan for the next four years, including healthy terrestrial ecosystems, healthy marine ecosystems, mitigation and adaptation to climate change, and fair natural resource governance; establishing an Asian regional protection agenda; displaying different interests Stakeholders work together to realize the path and case of change. IUCN Chairman Zhang Xinsheng and Acting Director General Grethel Aguilar attended the forum. Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan and President Arif Alvi attended the opening and closing ceremonies respectively. Malik Amin Aslam, Vice Chairman of IUCN and Climate Change Advisor to Pakistan's Prime Minister, Chen Yue, Deputy Director of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry of Natural Resources of my country, and Zhang Heqing, Cultural Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan, were invited to attend. 550 representatives from government agencies, member units, secretariats and councils from 25 countries attended the forum, and 41 representatives of Chinese members including the Biodiversity Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences participated.
